“As I expressed to everyone, very plainly, Greenland is imperative for National and World Security. There can be no going back — On that, everyone agrees! “ wrote Trump on Truth Social.

US President Donald Trump said that “a meeting of the various parties” regarding his bid to control Greenland, which belongs to Denmark, would be held in Davos.

Trump, in an early Tuesday post on Truth Social, said he had spoken about the meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in a phone call.

The president wants to annex the Danish island to the United States. The Copenhagen government has rejected the possibility and is supported by European powers in its opposition to Trump’s plans, reports Yahoo News.

“As I expressed to everyone, very plainly, Greenland is imperative for National and World Security. There can be no going back — On that, everyone agrees! The United States of America is the most powerful Country anywhere on the Globe, by far. We are the only POWER that can ensure PEACE throughout the World — And it is done, quite simply, through STRENGTH! ” Trump wrote.

He did not specify who would take part in the Davos talks, which began on Tuesday with the official programme of the World Economic Forum.

Trump is expected to arrive in the Swiss town on Wednesday and give a speech that day.

On Saturday, Trump announced that, from February 1, he would impose punitive tariffs of 10% on imports from Denmark and seven other European countries – and rising to 25% from June 1 – if no resolution is reached to his satisfaction, which would be the “complete and total purchase” of Greenland.

European Union countries are hurrying to find a joint response to the threat, including the possibility of imposing additional tariffs on a list of goods with a total trade volume of €93 billion ($108 billion).
